In the Hamilton area and surrounding communities, options for children’s education are limited to a) public school b) private school c) home education.
Many parents are not satisfied with public or private school options for a variety of reasons. However, full-time home education can be daunting for parents who do not have a background as educators.
As a certified teacher who feels passionate about education, it is my desire to equip parents with resources, coaching, and support to help bring excellence to the homeschooling experience.
Types of Available Support:
1. Planning Sessions and Curriculum consultation (rate: $40/2 hour consultation)
2. Support with Spelling programs such as Words their Way, Dimensions Math and SpellingCity.com (rate: $50, approximately 1 hour)
3. Novel Study Book Clubs (Comprehension questions and activities, including assessment) (rate: $60 for 6 sessions offered over 6 consecutive weeks. Minimum registration of 5 students required)
4. Large group sessions for topics including physical education, music, art classes and more (rate: $60 for 6 sessions offered over 6 consecutive weeks. Minimum registration of 5 students required)
5. Assessment support for homeschooling parents (Reading benchmarking, Math skill evaluation, rubrics, etc.) (rate: $40, two 1 hour sessions and a summary of results with suggested “next steps”)
6. Access to electronic resources such as RazKids, Spellingcity.com, etc. (Rate: $10/month, minimum 3 month commitment)
